At the age of 80, the French choreographer Patrice Bart passed away on 7 October 2025 after a long illness. Since 1993, he has left a defining mark on ballet in Berlin from his base at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, creating seven works for the city and working personally with the dancers of the Staatsballett Berlin on new productions almost every season right up to the end.

Over the course of nearly 600 performances, audiences have been able to experience the elegant nuances of his distinctive choreographic voice – including in our revival of Swan Lake on 5 December 2025.

The Staatsballett Berlin dedicates this performance to Patrice Bart with deep gratitude.
