Pedro Sanchez
Born in Havana, Cuba, Pedro Sánchez began piano lessons at age six and, by thirteen, had won the Claudio Arrau International Piano Competition in Valparaíso, Chile among other international awards. He trained at the Conservatorio Amadeo Roldán —where later he also served on the piano faculty— also advancing to the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) and the Juan Blanco Electroacoustic Music Lab. During this period he supplemented his formal studies with the mentorship under Maestro Andrés Alén, Miriam Valdez and Danae Ulacia, as well as taught chamber music classes at ISA.
Pedro’s professional career took shape in January 2004 at Instituto Cubano de Radio y Televisión in Havana, where he worked as a studio musician and composed scores for film and theatre. From September 2004 to February 2006 he co-founded SinPero Music Studio Production, writing original music. Between 2009 and 2011 he was pianist and assistant director of the Orquesta Nacional de Jazz de España in Madrid. In 2019–2020 he composed promotional music for the Helsinki Art Guide, and from 2019 to 2022 he combined duties as ballet pianist and co-répétiteur at the Finnish National Opera & Ballet Company and its Ballet School. He then served as répétiteur for classical productions and workshops at Svenska Balettskolan Göteborg (2022–2025) before joining Staatsballett Berlin in the 2025 season as ballet pianist and co-répétiteur.
