Mehmet Yumak

Born in Augsburg, Mehmet Yumak received his training as a dancer at the Istanbul Conservatory and the John Cranko Ballet Academy in Stuttgart (under the famous Petr Pestov). He initially danced in the Junior Company of the National Ballet of Istanbul and at the Stuttgart Ballet. His first engagement as a stage dancer led him to the Ballet of the Staatsoper Hannover, followed by seasons at the Theater Krefeld-Mönchengladbach and the National Ballet of Portugal. From 2007 to 2019, he was a dancer with the Staatsballett Berlin, performing an extensive repertoire of various movement languages. Renowned choreographers such as Nacho Duato or Marco Goecke selected him for the cast of their creations.

With his profound knowledge of all aspects of physical vitality and performance, he qualified as a fitness and personal trainer in 2017, followed by becoming a BASI Pilates trainer in 2021. Since 2020, Mehmet Yumak has been part of the Health Department at the Staatsballett Berlin, contributing his experiences in special training classes focusing on endurance and holistic physical fitness to the daily routine.
