Mathias Hofmann

Profile

Born in 1966 in Laubach, after completing his training as a news equipment mechanic and his civilian service, Mathias Hofmann studied theatre and event technology at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Berlin, including under Peter Sykora.

He took on the technical production management for Don Giovanni with Katharina Thalbach and Christoph Hagel at the E-Werk, for installations in public spaces, such as at the Neue Nationalgalerie (Hans Peter Kuhn), for the Staatsbibliothek Berlin, the Museum Kalkriese, as well as the projects Neues Berlin and Marzahn – bei Licht besehen. He was part of the team for Lucinda Childs' production Description of a Description.

Subsequently, he worked in the field of project management and construction in exhibition, event, and trade fair construction. During this time, assignments as a project manager took him to the Art Basel (for an exhibition warehouse by Herzog & de Meuron), to the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, to the International Motor Show IAA for the Audi Grand Hall (Schmidhuber und Partner), to Deutsche Welle TV, and to the «Science Express» by the Max-Planck-Gesellschaft.

Since 2013, he has been the Technical Production Manager of the Staatsballetts Berlin.
