Elsie Lindström

In the 1970s, Elsie Lindström began her career in the costume department of the Cullberg Ballet under the direction of Birgit Cullberg and Mats Ek. During this period, she also designed costumes for ABBA and was part of the tailoring team for Ingmar Bergman’s Fanny and Alexander.
From 1986, she spent more than three decades as head of men’s tailoring at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. After over 30 years in the role, she stepped down from her permanent position in the 2018/19 season to focus more on her own design projects. That same year, she worked with Staatsballett Berlin on George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations. She now returns to Staatsballett Berlin for Symphony in C.
