Dirk Haubrich

Profile

Dirk Haubrich was born in Saarbrücken. During a four-year stay in London, he studied composition and improvisation with Phillip Wachsmann. He later moved to The Hague to study sonology – the composition of electronic music – at the Royal Conservatoire.

His passion for dance and the stage began to take shape while working on Eidos:Telos with William Forsythe and Ballett Frankfurt. In the field of dance, Dirk Haubrich has collaborated closely with Krisztina de Châtel, Bruno Listopad, and Jiří Kylián.

Since 2000, he has built an especially close artistic partnership with Kylián, composing music for works including Click-Pause-Silence, Blackbird, When Time Takes Time, Far Too Close, Il faut qu’une porte, Last Touch, Last Touch First, Zugvögel, Sleepless, Mémoires d’oubliettes, Toss Of A Dice, Tar & Feathers, Vanishing Twin, Gods and Dogs, and 27’52.

His compositions have been performed in theatres across the world. He currently lives in Berlin.
