María de la Cámara and Gabriel Paré have been working since the mid-1990s on the applying the arts to the field of space. They trained in visual arts, theatre and architecture, graduating from ESAD with degrees in scenography and lighting design. Their work is notable for its continuous exploration of space, light and the objects that occupy it, and their transgressive approach to situating themselves at the limits of paratheatricality. The perceptual fusion of space and light lies at the heart of their work. They teach on masters and postgraduate courses at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the Elisava School of Design & Engineering, the ESAD and the Escola Universitària BAU.
Experts in scenic architecture and lighting systems, they have worked both in theatre, and for dance, music, audiovisual media and museography, always seeking spaces of encounter between the different disciplines. They also stand out for their work as authors of their own installations of illumination. They have been nominated for prestigious awards such as the Gaudí and Goya Prizes, and several of their works have won awards such as FAD, MAX, Butaca, Ciutat de Barcelona or the Critics' Prize.
