Extras Wanted for
the Ballet Production Nureyev

The Staatsballett Berlin is seeking extras with a range of profiles for its large-scale stage production Nureyev (directed by Kirill Serebrennikov, choreography by Yuri Possokhov). Rehearsals begin 9 January 2026, with the premiere on 21 March 2026 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

What’s it about?

What’s it about?

The award-winning ballet Nureyev, staged by visionary director Kirill Serebrennikov, had its world premiere at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in December 2017. Staatsballett Berlin is bringing this extraordinary production to the stage outside Russia for the first time.

With music by Ilya Demutsky and choreography by Yuri Possokhov, ballet, opera and drama merge into a powerful homage to the life and career of Rudolf Nureyev, one of the greatest dancers of the 20th century.

After Russia’s tightening of LGBTQ laws in 2022, Nureyev disappeared from the Bolshoi’s repertoire. This monumental dance event offers audiences the chance to experience the story of an artist who not only revolutionised ballet but also stood for artistic freedom and individual self-determination.
