The Staatsballett Berlin opens up the debate circling around issues of repertoire, canon and ballet performance practices, questioning its own historic traditions. During five events, experts will focus on a variety of issues. Held at the invitation of Dr. Christiane Theobald, pressing questions of age/race/religion/ability/class/gender will be discussed, openly and unbiased. Together with Dr. Mariama Diagne, a dance researcher and professional dancer, moderated by Claudia Henne, dance critic and cultural journalist, the Staatsballett Berlin continues the conversation about the future of ballet.

Free entry, registration via balletforfuture@staatsballett-berlin.de required.
Taking a peek at the Staatsballett Berlin dancers during their morning class is only seldom possible. However, the Staatsballett's most popular event series, BALLET CLASSES UP CLOSE gives audiences this rare opportunity: on the stage of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the curtain rises for everyone to catch a glimpse behind the scenes of everyday life at the Staatsballett studios. Depending on our event calendar, moderated REHEARSALS UP CLOSE are also planned.
With WIR WOLLEN REDEN!, the Staatsballett Berlin invites the audience to a post-performance conversation on three occasions, creating a space for discussions about EK/EKMAN, STRAVINSKY and DAWSON.
