Ballet for future? Podcast - Episode Five

Are the working conditions of a ballet dancer healthy? Is it possible to end a career in dance without lasting injuries? The balancing act between exceeding the natural range of movement and the forces of the human body in order to achieve an aesthetic ideal seems to have failed. One of the most frequently cited clichés of classical ballet are maltreated feet or even the successful ballet film BLACK SWAN, which suggests a working environment characterised by psychological pressure and physical exploitation.

This time, the panelists include: Anneli Chasemore (Health Department, Staatsballett Berlin), Dr. Mariama Diagne (Gesellschaft für Tanzforschung), Weronika Frodyma (Soloist, Staatsballett Berlin), Dr. Anja Hauschild (ta.med, Gemeinnütziger Verein für Tanzmedizin), Dr. Christiane Theobald (Kommissarische Intendantin, Staatsballett Berlin), Dr. phil. Brit Wilsdorf (Sportpsychologin am Olympiastützpunkt Berlin), Prof. Dr. med. Bernd Wolfarth (Ärztlicher Leiter Abteilung Sportmedizin, Charité Berlin), moderated by Claudia Henne (dance journalist).
