Don Quixote

Choreography and production by Víctor Ullate
Music by Ludwig Minkus

Gallery

Cervantes’ tale of Don Quixote, tilter at windmills, – as relevant today as ever - is known as a key work of world literature; but it is also the title of one of the most famous classical ballets, even though the piece depicts only a few of the episodes contained in the novel. Nacho Duato commissioned his compatriot Víctor Ullate to compose a new version because he’s especially qualified to capture the nuances of Spanish elements in the classical movement vocabulary. Audiences and the dancers themselves can look forward to this interpretation with bated breath as it features many of the loveliest roles in classical ballet, dwells in particular on the love story between Kitri and Basilio and exudes Spanish atmosphere.

Learn more: There is a free introduction in German for the audience at the performance venue 45 minutes before each performance, except opening nights, guest performances, and special events.
